Dr. Becky Hauri completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. She completed a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston. Dr. Hauri has been a licensed psychologist in Texas since 1992. She has worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor in inpatient and outpatient services, served as a Coordinator of the evaluation unit department, and finally was an Outpatient Clinical Supervisor of 5 outpatient clinics prior to joining HCC. Based on her clinical background in substance abuse, she wrote a FIPSE (Funds for the improvement of Post-Secondary Education Grant) for substance abuse prevention at HCC and was a member of the Gulf Coast Consortium Grant. She has served as an Outreach/Recruitment Coordinator, an Academic Advisor as well as an ADA Counselor. She is frequently called upon for crisis intervention and has presented crisis prevention programs at local, state, national, and international conferences. She supervises Master level practicum students from Houston Baptist University. Dr. Hauri has expertise in dealing with depression, anxiety, cross-cultural issues, crisis intervention, family issues, and sports psychology. She has helped thousands of individuals from 8 to 80 overcome obstacles allowing them to reach goals which lay the foundation to create the life they want to live.

Greta Brooks brings more than 20 years of counseling experience to HCC. She has previously served as a Special Education Teacher, Adjunct Psychology Instructor, Executive Director and Lead Therapist at an outpatient drug treatment facility, and most recently as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor carrying a Transition Caseload with Texas Workforce Commission Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (formerly known as DARS) for nine years. Greta earned a B.A. in Psychology from Tuskegee University; an M.S. in Counseling & Human Development from Troy University; and an M.Ed. in Rehabilitation Counseling from Auburn University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor in all 50 states. Her special interests include Assessment, Substance Abuse, Autism, Career Development, and Mood Disorders.

Dr. Smith has more than 11 years of counseling experience. She earned a Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education from Texas Southern University and a Master’s of Education in Counseling from The University of Houston- Victoria Campus. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston- Main Campus. Dr. Smith is a Licensed Professional Counselor- Supervisor; as well as, a Certified Professional School Counselor.
Dr. Smith has worked with individuals ranging in age from 3 – 70. Dr. Smith’s goal in the therapeutic process is to meet every individual where they are while setting goals for success in the future.

Shay Carper, Ph.D., MA, LPC, GCDF
Dr. Shay Carper is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and a certified Global Career Development Facilitator with expertise in personal and career counseling. She has earned a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Sam Houston State University, and masters and bachelor's degrees in Psychology from Houston Baptist University and the University of St. Thomas, respectively. Dr. Carper has extensive experience in higher education institutions, secondary education, community, and private settings. As a counselor educator and supervisor, Dr. Carper is regarded for local, state, and national presentations. She is an adjunct professor, an advocate for mental health wellness, and is highly esteemed in providing a comfortable, inviting environment to guide individuals.
