For more than 35 years, the HCC VAST Academy has been a trusted pathway to possibility for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across the Houston community. Grounded in dignity, access, and high expectations, VAST Academy supports students in building academic foundations, college readiness, career readiness, independence, and self-advocacy—preparing them not only for employment, but for meaningful participation in college, the workforce, and community life. As one of Houston City College’s longest-standing specialized programs, VAST continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s learners while honoring a legacy of inclusion, equity, and student success.
