Candidate Eligibility Requirements
- Must have resided continuously in the Houston Community College System geographic district for which the candidate is applying to appear on the ballot six months prior to the last date on which the candidate could file to be listed on the ballot.
- Must have resided continuously in the State of Texas for 12 months immediately preceding the filing deadline.
- Must be a qualified registered voter in the geographic district within Houston Community College System for which the candidate is applying to appear on the ballot.
- Must be 18 years or older on the first day of the term of office to be filled.
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must have not been finally convicted of a felony (unless the person has been pardoned or similarly released from the resulting disabilities of the felony).
- Must have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either (a) totally mentally incapacitated or (b) partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
- No compensation is provided for the role of Trustee. Candidates must be willing to serve without compensation.
- Trustees will be subject to certain nepotism laws. Candidates should also be aware of applicable nepotism laws.
Deadline to File Candidate Application
First day to file for place on ballot: Saturday, July 19, 2025
Last day to file for place on ballot: Before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025
