The HCC Coleman College Library is expanding its hours of operation and joining forces with the largest medical library in the world, the Houston Academy of Medicine – Texas Medical Center Library, home to more than 357,000 book and journal volumes as well as subscriptions to 172 electronic databases and over 9,000 electronic journals. The library is located one mile and one METRO Rail stop away from the HCC Coleman Campus at 1133 John Freeman Boulevard at Cullen Circle.
Best of all — it’s FREE. There are no HAM-TMC Library charges added to students’ tuition bills or fees. The HAM-TMC Library serves as the Regional Medical Library for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine South Central Region - one of only eight regional medical libraries in the U.S. The HAM-TMC Library also offers extended hours of operation, including Sundays.
Additionally, most of the online journals and databases are accessible online, including the Library’s catalog, PubMEd, Ovid Medline, all allowing students to use library resources while on the HCC Coleman Campus, or at their residences. The HCC Coleman Library space will continue to offer
- video viewing,
- study rooms,
- open access computers,
- as well as staff on-hand to assist with the library transition.
To obtain your library card needed to check out books, journals, and audiovisuals, as well as access the online services, present a copy of your current HCC class schedule at the HAM-TMC circulation desk. Reference librarians are on staff and ready to assist you with your research, use individual databases, and retrieve electronic journal articles. The library also has an “Ask a Librarian” service available in person at the library, by e-mail or by phone at 713.799.7161.

HAM-TMC PARKING
From Fannin Street, use Entrance 16. In front of the HAM-TMC Library are a few short-term (20-minute) parking spots. Beneath the HAM-TMC Library is Garage 3, which can be entered from Bertner Street (east side of library building). Do not park in spaces marked contract parking. Both the short-term parking and Garage 3 are often full. The next-closest parking is in Garage 4. Located one-and-a-half blocks from the HAM-TMC Library, Garage 4 has entrances on both McGregor Street and Ross Sterling Street.
